Hazard: Storm surge; coastal & river flooding; coastal erosion; saltwater intrusion
Nature-based Solution: Dune with natural material; marine seagrass; deep-rooted plants on river banks; planting of halophytes
Starting point: other
First approaches:
Getting started: I was invited to participate in a Stakeholder forum to discuss and bring my expertise and context knowledge in the topic presented. At the beginning the participants were informed with the main activities in the OAL and we were asked whether we would like to contribute and support the development of the Forum as a space to discuss and constantly exchange knowledge, competences and progress of OAL and NBS in general (especially in the local and regional policy making).
Selecting a solution: N/A
Assessing needs: N/A
Collaboration: The Forum meeting was scheduled through communication via WhatsApp chats and personal phone calls and convened online with a formal invitation via email. The meeting was well participated and for three hours the discussion was interesting and fruitful.
When:
Before: N/A
After: N/A
After the project: The OPERANDUM project is still ongoing and the Forum will keep scheduling meeting and (hopefully field trips in the OAL sites) for the next year.
Overall Experience: Very well participated and the inputs collected in the discussion and after via mail are improving significantly the dissemination and consolidate the knowledge at institutional level around NBSs and their impact on territories
Lessons Learnt: The online meeting was useful in this period of Covid-19 restrictions but it is important to be back on the field and start organizing meeting in person and in the OAL sites, to exchange updates and to proceed with the co-monitoring activities and to disseminate results and impact at local and regional institutional level (Municipalities adjacent the OAL, Regional authorities, River and fluvial consortiums etc).
