Starting point: community

First approaches: municipality

Getting started: Yes, I knew a few people who had the same issue that we cannot go to work sometimes because the bridge is flooded. Together we asked the municipality for help

Finding (Nature-based) Solutions

Selecting a solution: The municipality contacted some local experts for risk reduction and they suggested and presented different solutions.

Assessing needs: We needed some digging machines for extending the river bed and re-meandering the river.

Collaboration: Yes, I knew a few people and together we asked the municipality for help.

After the project: The project is still ongoing.

Overall Experience: The start was very slow and difficult but otherwise it is great to be part of the actual project and that our opinions are valued.

Lessons Learnt: It took some time until the municipality reacted to our request.

Best Practice: It is good to group together to get more attention from the municipality.
